Analyze primary-source historical research.

In this unit, we are zeroing-in on a different type of academic research: primary-source historical research. The main goals of this unit are for you to gain a clear understanding of the different ways academic writers can use primary and secondary sources; to practice and refine primary and secondary source research skills; to learn to pose and investigate genuine research questions; and to plan, research, draft, and revise your own project based on primary-source evidence.

More specifically, your assignment is to create an article for an academic audience (in this case, our 102 class) that uses primary-source research to answer a question about the role of home in a recent historical moment/event. You must connect your primary-source research to a larger research conversation about your topic or about home.

Assignment: The goal of this unit is to familiarize you with the process of historical inquiry and archival research. You will be analyzing primary sources and using them to draw conclusions about the people who interacted with them.

YOUR TOPIC: Either the making of the atomic bomb (Hiroshima) in Oak Ridge, or the dropping of the atomic bomb. Be creative and expand on these topics. You can look at this topic from either a synchronic or diachronic point of view, either way it must be one of the two. Remember that synchronic is a moment in time, while diachronic usually spans a time period. So for example, if you focused on dropping the bomb, you’re better off to take a synchronic approach, but if you focus more on the making and the events surrounding Hiroshima you’re better off to take a diachronic approach.
in Details: 3-5pp, TNR, 12pt., double-spaced, 1 side margins, pages numbered on the top right-hand side with last name beginning on page 2, MLA format, including a Works Cited.

MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE PRIMARY SOURCE!! You also will need 1-2 secondary sources in your paper as well. Make sure they are accessible either online or through our library.

(I personally would prefer that the sources (secondary) come from online), also if easier you may change my subject or approach to the dropping of Hiroshima instead of the making of it, but id prefer to stick with the approach that i had chosen. This paper must also have an interesting headline or title and have internal citations. Below i listed a few of sources i have gathered already if useful. Thank you so much.
