Each student will have the opportunity to research two different species of organisms living in the Aphotic Zone and the Photic Zone in the worlds oceans. The students will need to pick one primary producer species and one animal species from each of the zones and write a 4 to 8 page research paper.
Requirements for project:
o Two different species from Photic Zone (primary producer & animal) 25 pts/species
o Two different species from the Aphotic Zone (primary producer (get creative, theres really only 1 true one of these.) & animal) 25 pts/species
Research the name of species & background information 2 pts.
Location where it is found 2 pts.
History/interesting facts about the organism 2 pts.
Habitat (depth, etc) 2 pts.
Feeding, diet 2 pts.
Reproduction 2 pts.
Behavior/instincts 2 pts.
Adaptations 2 pts.
Social behaviors (interactions with other species or same species) 2 pts.
Must include pictures of each species (these do NOT count towards total pgs) 2 pts.
o For each species you must have a minimum of 1 page 12pt ft, double spaces, times new roman paper 5 pts.
o Grammar and spelling count! 5 pts.
o You will need at least 2 sources for each species (a minimum of 2 sources total) and you MUST properly cite using APA format. (the link below will help you create proper citation!) 10 pts.
